Tarneeb
A four-player partnership game: bid on tricks, name the trump, and make your contract.
Tarneeb is played with a 52-card deck, no Jokers, by four players in two fixed partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other. Every deal starts with an auction: each new bid must be higher than the one before, and the winner promises that their team will take at least that many tricks, and names the trump suit.
After 13 tricks the hand is scored: success gives the team the number of tricks it took, failure subtracts the bid. Special bonuses (Kaboot) reward taking every trick.
Key points
Two opposite teams
Exactly 4 players; partners sit opposite each other (seats 0 and 2 against seats 1 and 3).
Bidding from 7 to 13
A bid is the number of tricks your team promises to take, and every bid must be higher than the previous one.
The winner names the trump
The auction winner picks one of the four suits as trump and leads the first trick. There is no No-Trump.
Kaboot
Taking all 13 tricks scores 16 points, or 26 if you had bid 13.
Target 31, 41 or 61
The first team to reach or pass the room target after a hand is scored wins the match.
